Chuck Hull invented the manufacturing process called stereolithography, or 3-D printing, in 1983, and founded the company 3D Systems in 1986.

RIT faculty member receives NSF CAREER Award

A faculty member at Rochester Institute of Technology has received a National Science Foundation CAREER Award expected to total $596,512 over five years.

The five-year grant award to Amlan Ganguly is being used to further explore the design of energy-efficient data centers using a communication infrastructure with wireless interconnections, according to RIT.

Summer camps will give deaf and hard-of-hearing students the opportunity to learn about careers in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields this July at Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf.

Students who are entering seventh, eighth or ninth grades in September can attend TechGirlz or TechBoyz summer camps from July 23 through 28. 

RIT’s MAGIC Spell Studios to help develop VR labs

Rochester Institute of Technology will help develop seven new virtual reality labs at universities in the United States and Canada, including at RIT’s MAGIC Spell Studios.

Crytek, an independent videogame developer, publisher and technology provider, recently named RIT to an initiative, VR First, that seeks to promote research and development in virtual reality by providing hardware and facilities at academic institutions around the world.
