Election 2012

New York is one of five states sending Republican primary voters to the polls today. In New York - as elsewhere - Mitt Romney is expected to rack up more delegates (Thomas Kaplan, New York Times).

Foregone conclusions apparently don't fire up primary voters. In Rochester's Monroe County, experts are expecting turnout in the low teens (Jill Terreri, Democrat and Chronicle).

Romney picked up an endorsement from a former critic yesterday (Reid Pillifant, Capital New York).

Albany

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has opened bidding on 51 major public works projects. Construction on the first wave of projects is expected to start in June (Associated Press).

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver is no longer "the most powerful man in Albany" - but he still holds quite a bit of sway (Associated Press).

Business

Xerox is in the midst of a "seismic shift," according to CEO Ursula Burns. It's also Rochester's largest private sector employee. What does it all mean for the Flower City? (Matt Daneman, Democrat and Chronicle)

Buffalo-based Synacor is making moves. The digital entertainment company is partnering with a major player in the Midwest (Synacor Press Release).

A new study says the Buffalo Niagara region could be doing more to court Canadian shoppers. Peripatetic Canucks already pump nearly $1 billion into the region's economy (David Robinson, Buffalo News).

Monroe County's IDA (COMIDA) was cleared of wrongdoing by the state's Authorities Budget Office. A group of western New York labor groups and legislators had accused COMIDA of poaching jobs (Samantha Maziaraz Christmann, Buffalo News). 

Energy

Arista Power - formerly WindTamer - is teaming up with GE on an energy storage project (Democrat and Chronicle).

A journalist from the Southern Tier is giving a talk on fracking tonight at the University of Rochester (Democrat and Chronicle).
